About Shanghai Grill & Bar

Shanghai Grill & Bar is a chinese restaurant in Holland, Michigan. It is listed at 661 E 24th St, Holland, MI 49423, which places it among the local businesses of Holland that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as sushi restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Holland; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Michigan are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 am–9:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Shanghai Grill & Bar at (616) 298-2168; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. An addition to the buffet with different options. I ordered take out Chinese food, and I it was pretty good. Mongolian beef with only beef, onions, green onions, and those crispy noodles... like it's supposed to be. Had some spice to it and was tasty. I'll have to try some of their other options, like the Korean stuff, as I was pleased with what I got. Nice place, casual, well maintained. Service was good as well.

Pretty place but it was by far the worst Chinese buffet I have been to. No nice way to say it. We were on vacation which made it even more disappointing. Half the food was cold. The fruit salad tasted like it was spoiled. Felt sick the rest of the 4 hour ride home. Also EXTREMELY expensive. Do better. 4 people on a Sunday evening cost $100 with tip. Too much for a buffet that isnt up to par. We could have ate at a steak house for the same price. Never again. I got the feeling they rely on unexpected tourists to keep them in business. If I was local I would have notified the health department.

This ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET features a large restaurant building with many rooms and areas. The food was a 8 out of 10 for me most items where very tasty. The mash potatoes tasted like may have been real potatoes instead of that watered down stuff you get at other places and they have a great homemade gravy. They have a large selection of foods a womderful and moist meat loaf but also including sushi and deserts with good sized salad bar also. They feature a bar and grill that's attached in the same building and I seen karaoke equipment so it seems on the right days they may also have karaoke.

If this were gas station sushi, I might add a star. It was arguably the worst we have ever had. We had two premium rolls, a standard roll, and their assorted appetizer for two. As for the appetizer platter, the Chicken Satay was overcooked and had a texture similar to jerky, not at all edible. The rib had chewable parts, but they were overcooked as well. The ragoon and gyoza were OK, but the egg roll had a weird texture on the wonton. The rolls had little flavor. They were mushy and off-putting. We honestly could not finish them. Heck, not even our cat begged for a taste. I hate to be so negative, and I feel like I said enough. But, if you want better quality, go to Wild Chef. Top quality, Miso Sushi. But, I cannot in good faith recommend sushi from this establishment. They don't even have Asian sushi chefs making the rolls, but I bet they could whip up some great Hispanic fare!

this was the first time in a LONG while when I did not finish my food because frankly it wasn’t good. Spent $26 total which is more than desired based on quality. And I’m a truck driver so I’ve been all around the country and know what to compare it to. This place needs more variety and better food in my opinion. would not come back, there are SO MANY other options where I could spend this money in Holland. Picture shows the BEST sushi that THEY have, kind of disappointed that I came here to be honest but personnel is nice
